Globe and Mail verb fail
-----
Plead.
I've been watching this verb, past tense, get simplified for years.
To plead. Did plead. Pled.
This is one I used to struggle with regularly in my day-to-day work, until I got used to it.
Someone pled guilty or pleaded guilty?
The rule for us in journalism is pleaded. The lawyers like pled.
D - I see how the author could be confused.
Plead sounds like Plea-ed. Like past tense.
But it is wrong.
Not sure about a past tense?
Just say did + XYZ.
